Plot

The story of Matka is reconstruction of the space history and culture of time with Visakhapatnam, the place which has perhaps its own consolidated scope of rich natural scenic and historical integration.

The history of Vizag from the 1950s to the 1980s was of a city that was liminal in essence, a city that was much influenced by the growth and development of India.

Further, combining globalization and national culture, while retaining one’s core identity, the film spans more than 24 years, which allows us to explore major transformations within the city and perhaps bridges those changes into the lives of the characters.

Music and Cinematography

Matka sets out to be a material pleasure, courtesy of composer GV Prakash Kumar and the cinematographer, Priya Seth. GV Prakash Kumar has previously composed for a number of movies and his work is always multi-dimensional and in sync with the storyline of the film.

But here, it seems he is including features from both a historical view and a dramatic action film. Such music is what brings you into a film, a score that belongs to a particular period.

At the same time, Priya Seth’s lens not only portrays the beautiful nature of Vizag but the evolution of the characters. She is skilled at skillfully manipulating light and shadow so as to invoke both intrigue and reminiscence.
